When Pongees first located in London in 1931 they specialised in Natural and Textured plain silk fabrics. Over the many years we have developed and added an extensive range of luxurious plain dyed silks for the fashion and couture industry including exclusive chiffons from France – habotai’s, georgettes, organzas, crepe de chine’s and crepe satins from China and taffetas, duchess satins and douppions from India.

The recent development of Pongees Interiors collection has added a further wide selection of pure silk fabrics in woven jacquard designs, embroideries and prints all exclusively for the UK and international interiors market.

From its origin in Imperial China over 3000 years ago,  pure silk has cast its enduring influence as a status symbol for historic and twentieth- century fashion as well as adorning exclusive stately home and palace interiors across the centuries.  Silk is still the essential fabric for these same clientele today in the 21st century.  We believe that Silk is truly the Queen of Fibres and continues to reign supreme among all textile fabrics.   We continue to take great pride in being associated with this wonderful product.
